Warm welcome to Dr Ivana Ivánová
A warm welcome from the Department was extended to Dr Ivana Ivánová, who recently joined as a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow for the CRC-SI (Cooperative Research Centre – Spatial Information).
Ivana holds an engineering and doctoral degree in geodesy and cartography with specialisation in geoinformatics, from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. She has researched and lectured at several universities – Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (2000-2007), University of Twente in The Netherlands (2007-2013) and São Paulo State University in Brazil (2014-2017).
Her research interests and expertise are in the area of spatial data quality and spatial knowledge infrastructures. In the past, Ivana developed and delivered several courses on spatial information management, spatial data structures and infrastructures and their quality.
Spatial data quality is Ivana’s main research interest; she investigates how producers, users and machines define, standardise, evaluate and use the quality of spatial resources (data, information, processes and services).
Ivana has many years of experience in national and international standardization. She represented Slovak national standardization organization in the European standardization commission (2004-2007) and has been overseeing and reviewing the adaptation of EN ISO 19100 series of norms into a national legal framework for geographic information. She is currently resuming her involvement in OGC’s Domain Working Group on Quality.
