Postgraduate courses

Postgraduate degrees are designed for geoscience graduates who want specialist skills in minerals, mining, petroleum, environmental or hydrogeology, and for graduates in other subjects considering a move into geoscience.

The MSc in Geology provides geoscience graduates with additional training in the specialist skills that you will require to follow a career in either the mining or petroleum industry. According to your interests you can choose from one of two streams – either Mineral Exploration and Mining Geology or Basin Analysis and Petroleum Geology. The course runs over three semesters – the first two semesters comprise taught courses that provide training in the technical and vocational skills that are appropriate to your chosen discipline, while the third semester is devoted to an independent project that gives you the opportunity to apply and further develop those skills, typically using data from either the mining or petroleum industry.
